Tuesday 8/19 morning was a miracle at Sodus Point. You can't believe how good it gets here after a night of 25 - 35mph out of the northeast. I went out from 7 - 9 in waves that were glassy and bigger than I can describe. By that time the wind was only blowing 15 - 20 straight onshore, perfect for going left or right on the longest/ cleanest waves I have seen in a long time. Dive the kite to get away from the washing machine, cut up wind and go out for more. Sounds good, but I will admit I was washed up a few times. I would have stayed out longer if I didn't have obligations. Strong northeast wind usually fades by 10:00 anyway. Although it will always be a bit different, I will be there when it happens again. Did anyone else get out that morning?

Lynn and I got out to Durand that morning but the wind died pretty soon after getting into the water and once it shifted to the NE. The waves there are very fun but sloppy when an onshore wind blows. Again I cannot say how nice Hamburg was on Sunday, I wish I could have gone monday but alas I had to work Monday night to fund my fall trip to some windy spot and of course to fund my quiver... I have also kited up at Southwick state park after a good westerly storm and the waves were similiar to what you were talking about pat. Enough wind to power up when you need it and depower to carve turns on the smoother faces.
