Hi Windsport enthusiasts,
RNEWS Meteorologist Josh Kozlowski here,
I wanted to apologize for getting the Sunday forecast so obviously wrong on Saturday Night. What was I thinking!!! 15-25+ on Sunday??!! I was confused, you see, I was down at Park Ave fest on Friday, and me and some of my frat boy friends had 15-25+ beers as we shot wisenheimer comments at the cute girls walking past our trashed apartment. I have to say though...I thought you guys were smart enough to know that such an awesome forecast at Durand is not possible in the month of August. So in an effort to mend the bridge of good will, I am putting out my forecast for the entire month right now!!!!! Don't tell okay!? I could get fired if everybody realizes my job is a sham.
Odd numbered days in August will be 5-15 NW...(just enough to get you hopeful for an overachieving wind). Ha ha.
Every other even numbered day will get the always appreciated SW at 10-20 with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Could be 10, might be 20....this isn't an exact science you know!
For more updates check my forecast on the nines. All R's all the time.
Pass the beer,
Josh

Well everyone that didn't pay attention to the R News weather man and checked the windline had a nice time out on the water on Sunday. I feel like the meteorologists have been really off this year. I don't know what is going on.
Anyways, who was out yesterday. I saw Bill, Gary, Doug, Alan, Steve, Rick, some other dude that launched way up the beach, and me on boards. I know that Linn and a bunch of other guys were out on kites.
I think I was perfectly powered on my 7.0. I chased some yachts and caught up to a few of them. Gary, Doug, and I had a nice race at the end of the day. We went way out and then the wind died. It made for a pretty slow return.
Still working on that jibe, but I completed a few but fell in most of time. Bending your knees seems to be absolutely critical and choosing a good spot on the water where the board won't bounce around too much. I think my too biggest problems now are foot placement and remembering to move my mast hand closer to the mast when I flip the rig. I haven't completely memorized the technique yet. I don't want to pick up any bad habits early on.
Writing this I am realizing that I am still kind of tired from yesterday. Ugg, back to work.

Z-Man,
I saw you out there on that 7.0 beating the boarts and jibing, not bad. I hope you appreciate the fact that I did the "walk of shame" so you wouldn't have to. If you figure out how to flip the sail let me know ok, I still don't get it, I mean it looks good on film, but....

That would be "boats" not boarts....actually boarts are Danish kiters.
Just kidding.

I just got a call from RNEWS. It appears that Josh Kozlowski is also the lead forecaster for IWindsurf in our area, therefore..........Wednesday will not have any wind. Please disregard the enticing yellow and orange hues on the flowviz model and continue living your regular lives. According to his previously posted (above) forecast schedule, it will be SW 10-20. Who knew?! Not Josh. Doug

Geez!! I canceled my Wednesday afternoon appointments already. Maybe I just got too excited with a small taste yesterday. Still, all the forecasts I see show some sail-able wind on Wednesday. What's the real call?

Just think if Rider 1200 had his new kite from Texas & Duluoz was actually at Durand the count would have been overwhelming for windsurfers to over take the kites on Sunday. As it was I think the kiters had us only by one in numbers but I figured being a heavy weight perhaps I could've taken two of the kites down myself.
All in all what a showing the rochester windsports did at Durand keep up the good work.
As for Wednesday I was just at Scorza's and informed him that we would cut and load some firewood Wednesday after work "IF IT WASN"T WINDY" We should all call him if it is sailable to get him off his house building project on on to the water where he belongs.

Yesterday WindKid wrote. "I hope you appreciate the fact that I did the "walk of shame" so you wouldn't have to." What are you? Jesus on a sailboard? hahah. And for your info I also did a little shame walking at the end of the day . I know how us windsurfers can take out the kiters! We can mount giant samurai swords on the masts and we'll just turn into the the kite lines as we fly past em. ha hah! swish! Have fun swimming buddy! Everyone pray for wind tonight! - mike

Ok Mike I didn't exactly intend to exculpate you from any windsurfing sins you've commited in the past. Surely that's something you'll have to address to the big guy yourself. "Jesus on a sailboard"....I ain't touching that line, although it would seem that the board and sail would be redundant at best. Sorry you had to repeat the WOS later in person. More importantly anyone have any inspirations for where to sail tomorrow? H2O Rick made Webster sound a little less than appealing. Road trip anyone?

I have a meeting until 2pm so I am probably just gonna sail at Durand. What about going to Hamilin? I know David had some trouble there, we should get that straightened out. What about Fair Haven? Be sure to call the windline.
