Winter Kite and Windsurf Hook in and Hang Out HIHO

Greetings fellow Cowboys of the Liquid Plains (stole that from Hot Sails),
It is with great enthusiasm that I write to invite you to the first Rochester Kite and Windsurf, Hook In and Hang Out (HIHO for short). Loosely brought to you by RochesterWindsports.com.

Since we are in the midst of the more or less "down time" for our pursuits, there is no better time to get together and catch up with old friends and new. Besides, it's only for a couple of hours.

The Place: Mulconry's Irish Pub in Fairport

The Date: Sunday February 17, 2 p.m. till ?

The Plan: Enjoy some Food and Drink, as we hang with old friends and new. We can watch favorite vid's on the TV.

The Cost: Expect to spend/donate $5-10 on catered appetizers. Beverages are on you at your discretion.

If you've scored a local winter water session, a snow session on mountain or field, ice session, a Caribbean session, or if you've just been drinking a couple Full Sail Brewery Sessions, show up and talk about it.

There are a lot of good folks out there that are new or seasoned veterans, or just do their own thing most of the time, so I need your help in spreading the word about the HIHO. Please, please, forward this email to as many wind warriors as you know.
This is a bit of a drive for the folks east of Rochester so I tried to be considerate and have it on the east side of Rochester (Hope you can make it!. If you would rather, forward their e mail to me and I will contact them. The more folks that show up, the better a time will be had by all, and the tighter knit we may be. As I saw on a Kite/Windsurf bumper recently, "united we shred, divided we're dead".

Mulconry's party area is upstairs, and features a full bar and menu. I will need to place a "catering" order Four days in advance, so it is important that I get a head count to order the appropriate amount of wings, potato skins etc........ There is no charge for the room, so the restaurant makes its profit on the food and beverage and gratuity.

I've gotta say, the community is stepping up big these past couple days. I was starting to think we might not have enough folks for the private room, now it's looking possible.

As of Wednesday afternoon 2/13, the list continues to grow. This has certainly exceeded my expectation, but not the scope of possibility. We've got the makings of a good time with a lot of personality, and knowledge set to be in the same place at the same time.

I've heard back from a couple of names that you may recognize, but wont be able to attend. Geoff from Ithaca (super freak guy) loved the idea, but was understandable weary of the distance. Doug C. would have made it too if he was not heading out of town for Feb. break with his family. I haven't heard back from Kel, but would imagine the same to be true for him since he is in Syracuse. Also heard from Gary W. who had been battling health issues, but is feeling much improved and ready for his annual trip to Hatteras.

Thanks so much to everybody that made it out to the HIHO (Hook In, and Hang Out). From all the feedback I have gotten it seems to have been a big success. If you missed it this year, I have the feeling we will do it again next year. More food will be in order for next year though.
Some good discussions and relationships have been started, so lets keep the good vibes and stoke going.
Maybe we have an early summer BBQ and burn one of Kinger's boards as sacrifice to the wind gods. Actually, I couldn't do that to an old board that has given itself valiantly in service for lots of years, and I couldn't hammer mother nature with all the chemicals from burning the board.
Again, pat yourself on the back for making the effort, and spreading the word all in the name of windsurfing and kitesurfing.
