Just a quick summary of what turned out to be a harmonious day on lake O. at the I. bay inlet...
-The surfers showed up early to set up for their surf contest while most of the kiters waited 'til 11ish for the wind to turn and touch in; -Lynn, Paolo, Greg, Brad, and kiter Doug (and Klasner later on) sailed on the inlet's west side while the surfers organized on the lee side; -Psycho chop and some nice sets on the west side were enjoyed by many a kiter; -Surfers had cleaner waves on the lee side (which is where I spent most of the day enjoying down-the-line turns while keeping a safe distance from the surfers who communed closer to the jetty); and, -With a tip from Windy Doug (thank you), Lynn and I did the diplomatic thing and met up with the surfers at Marge's for their awards ceremony. It was a great chance to bridge the gap between our watersport communities.
Finally, big accolades to Aurelien who organized the surf contest! First, he graciously emailed me earlier in the week to inform me of their plans. He also had a pile of schwag and trophies (custom made by surfer Scott) for winners of categories including best longboard ride, best short board ride, best ride by a female, and longest ride (as well as prizes for runners up). If I had an ounce of his dedication maybe someday there could be a similar event for kiting?!

Awesome post! Its seems that so many guys are out scoring really late in the season. Be safe and tear it up. Nice job being an ambassador and good will agent for us wind driven folks at Marge's Jay.
