Been watching the forecast for a little over a week since I had the day off for Veterans Day and it fluctuated wind speed wise as the days drew closer to 11-11-11 hoping for a good Webster Park session.
Watching the trees, the meter and checking the message line I spent the early afternoon treating my father to a free Veterans lunch at Applebees. Between the mini cells of sleet pellets the wind was trying its best to blow and I checked the lake from atop the neighborhood with my dad; he pointed out the whitecaps and said "hey that looks good". He was right!
Headed to Webster with a few sails and my drysuit for the first time this fall and since there were no messages on the phone line if I was alone it was best to be warm. The sail sizes of 4.2, 4.8 & 5.2 it wasn't blowing trees down so the 3.8 stayed home & 5.8 would join it cause the air temp didn't justify that large a size. I arrived a little before 3pm to waves & 4.8 wind but the park was empty. Where was everyone? I texted Doug earlier in the week he was previously committed so he was excused but nobody else. Not to worry I rigged and went, the wind was mostly West and worked well for me, well enough to keep me on the water till dark. Pictures will follow there where two women who both had new cameras so they wanted to e-mail me the photos they took, I'm still waiting.
I ordered the Starboard Kode back in July but never really had the time or conditions to know whether I liked it or not. 11-11-11 was the day I was able to dial it in a little better. Me like it.
Went to Hamburg on Saturday sailed a little bit of 5.2m but not as much as I would have wished only got about 1hr & 40 mins on it before the wind dropped off. I should have blown off ice hockey in the morning and went straight to Hamburg but you know how it goes the heroin gets into your veins and you want more no matter how far the drive is.
