Looking to get to know and ride with some fellow kiters in the rochester area. I have been spending the winter in Corpus Kiting and I'm home now and looking for some good spots. What are some nice spots to kite around here. Been trying to find some flathingyer too. Long pond looks a little tricky to launch in. Let me know whats up! Thanks

Great to have a new wind entusiast on the forum Highroller!
Check in with David or Chris with to find some kiting buddies.....They are normally there when it blows....so is Lynn, but he is not on the forum. Rider1200 aka Brent is a new guy on the scene, but he is looking to have a good summer as well.
As far as places to launch, check out that section on rochesterwindsports.com
Hope that helps, and keep posting. WD

Was on Seneca for 3 hours today alone in flat water. Winds were S, SW, WSW at about 6-12 (12 was a gust). Rode a 17m Slingshot Turbo2 and a 139 board and was fully lit in 8-10 mph and jumping, awesome kite. Jason pumped up a 20 and was out for a bit but family called. KEl stopped by but only had a 14 so did not pump up.

Looks like today might be 10-15 at Durand or Montana. Could be good.

I work tonight but if it is good early then I might head up for an hour or two. I'll have my eye on the wind meter and the lakevision cam... Hope to see you out there.

BTW Long pond is not a fun launch at all except in winter where you can get out on the ice a bit. Chris, did you tell me you shreaded your waroo up there last year? I drift launched the South end once late last year but seems like the north end would be a nightmare without an assist...

Yeah, thanks for reminding me. I've successfully launched with help at the N end and had a disaster when trying it as a drift launch. Pretty sketchy.

I don't have a kite yet but I'm working on it. Looking for used gear if anyone's upgrading, I know I'll beat it up in the beginning so I don't want to go new if I can help it. I'm hellbent on an 07 Cabrinha Switchblade II but I seem to be the only one. Might have to broaden my horizons.
If anyone goes out & needs help launching you can call me at 733-2440. Specially if its Durand or Montana, I live close by. I've taken a few lessons but I figure the more I learn the better, I know I'll be out there alone the 1st windy day I have my own kite. I also have a boat if anyone dares a deepwater launch, Miller is the only one I've heard trying.

Brent,
Has Lynn Davis been back in touch with you yet? Keep calling him with regards to used gear. If you need his number again PM me. (However that works)
PS nice distant photos of you ice sailing

I have the car loaded and am scheduled to give Webster a shot, bring that Futura so I can give it my review.
Hope to see others out there later today cause I need help putting on the dry suit. (me think it shrunk over the winter hanging in the garage)
