Did anyone manage to make Durand Sat.? It looked like late afternoon was doable. As far as the Fair Haven follies went, yes there was wind, but if you use Greg's windsurfing travel formula, (Time on the Water should be equal to or greater than Time on the Road) then it was a close call. Not as much TWO as hoped, but there was sun, and wind for awhile and some serious waves. Nice views and you could virtually drive up to the water's edge and park. Unfortunately the wind died down all too soon, but Ken, Doug and I did get out with our 6.5's to brave the cold water and check out the distant Sandy Cliffs. Anyway it is an alternative launch site an hour away and at today' gas prices that should only be a small fortune.

Members & Non Members,
I sailed a 6.3m sail alone at Webster on Sunday, I wasn't charged to enter the park and drove 8 mins driveway to launch, drove right upto the grass rigging area but had no sand beach only rocks. I missed half of the sailing time because I spent more time surfing the web for wind rather than the Lake.
The wind was West filled right into the "beach" (no wait no sand) filled right into the "rocks", in fact the water level is high and the waves were eroding the "beach" (darn, did it again no sand) waves were eroding the "shore" (that's better)
I sailed Fair Haven only a few times nearly 20 years ago when my inlaws owned a cottage near by and it is as Doug describes a nice place for sailing, and yes the pier to the West makes the waves a little gentle. I sailed 5.0m Northwest once and since I was the only one there did not venture out to far because the inside waves were enough for me to handle at the time.
I would like to get another opportunity to sail there in some better conditions than Sunday to better rate this sailing site.
Saw the pictures on the site. Tell me about some of these new boards I'm seeing. Could be time for me to buy something new so I can "keep up with the Jones"
