Hello kiters, This is the guy who is always yelling at you at the seebreze jetty. The environment at that location has become excessively dangerous. With fall approaching im worried that one of my friends or myself will eventually be run over or become entangled in a kiters lines.
when you guys show up you just tear right through us like your the hells angels and were on tricycles. i don't understand why? No joke, were used as a Salomon course regularly. lines over our heads regularly.
Either you greatly underestimate how dangerous you and your equipment can be, or some of you just don't care because your not the one that's going to be hurt. It's not the wild west out there. there are clear laws, and rules of Etiquette not being observed.
I have no issue with kiteboarding. looks like you guys have allot of fun out there. but the sport you chose sits higher up the food chain of manoverability than surfing. Therefore it is your responsibility to yield right of way 100% of the time to any less maneuverable craft or swimmer. From what I've read it seems the rule is 2 lengths of your lines away from anything always.
its a huge lake. there's more than enough room for all of us to have fun. PLEASE. be cool. and most important, let the other kiters know the laws. it will mean more if it comes from you to them, than us to them. if there is an accident, we will all end up loosing that spot

I'd like to apologize for the poor experience(s) you had at the jetty and thank you for coming to us here. Most of us are very aware of the dangers of our sport and strive to maintain safe distances and back-up plans so as never to injure ourselves or anyone around us. Both because we're good people and because we know losing our launch site is a very real possibility.
The problem is the popularity of the sport is growing and a lot of people are going at it on their own without instruction and sometimes without common sense. Luckily its pretty easy to spot those who are learning and/or not exercising proper caution and I know I'm not alone when I say I will walk up and have a talk with them.
My name is Brent, I drive a white F150, I'm 32 & think I'm the only one out there with red hair. If you see me please introduce yourself so we can get more information and make sure we can all keep having fun doing what we love. Thanks again for coming to us here.
BTW, love the screen name!

Hi Brent. I'm Darrell. I have seen you there before. I drive the silver F150. thank you so much for your kind response. This curse at them as they go by at 30mph is not working, and is no fun. If experienced kiters tell them the way it is, im sure they will listen better. I've been surfing there for over 20 years. but like your sport there has been a boom in popularity. this fall on a strong NE there are going to be allot of people in the water. And a lot of people with not much experience on both ends. I just want to do all I can to keep things safe, and have the new people leave with a positive experience. I've taken allot of them under my wing and I feel responsible for what happens to them out there. and some of you guys are stressing me out. If you could help get the word out I would greatly appreciate it.
Cheers to the wind.
See you at the jetty

Yes that sounds like a great suggestion because the windsport guys don't have steering wheels on their gear and the up wind side is more difficult to get to, any falling or crashes will put the windsport guys down wind so up wind is much safer for the surfers.
However your suggestion for them to launch on the Webster side of the jetty, do you mean in the channel? If so that's ok I've seen them do that before, if you mean on the Webster side jetty that wouldn't be good, cause that is all private property over there. That bridge has already been burnt previously by surfers who confronted the property owners making statements that the beach is NOT private property. This took place a year or so ago the police where called in, it was a big to do, the home owners over there where upset with the surfers being arrogant regarding the whole launch thing.
Like I said the surfers are now putting in, in the channel or off either of the piers and swimming to their destination.
Lets enjoy the adverse weather conditions
