My favorite quote...or exclamation, of the day came from Ken..."Canandaigua sucks, except when it's windy".
The late afternoon sailing session was filled with plenty of whooping and exclaiming as we were flying across the water for the first time after this long winter.
The wind meter teased us all afternoon with good spikes up followed by a sizable lull. The fact that the Seneca meter was down was killing everybody (if you haven't down your part in reporting it please do) as most prefer to sail Seneca instead of Canandaigua.
As it worked out, Ken, Bob the pharmacist (hope I got that right), and I rigged against better judgment as a bank of clouds rolled over the lake. Bob was the first one out on a big Go board and a 8.5 Ezzy Freeride. He had some good runs but spent time slogging, I rigged my 7.5 and 116 Screamer, and Ken rigged up an 8.0 and a floaty board as well and we headed out. Slog/schlog city. We paid our dues back and forth for 20 minutes or so until the clouds broke and the wind cranked up to 22 for 90 minutes. Lots of great rides back and forth with some pretty d**n good early season jibes too. I had the most TIW (time in water) on a couple bailed chop hops, and Ken and I even went jibe for jibe with each other like Albeau and Buzianis...or like Ken and Doug.
Did anybody else get out Windsurfing or Kiting on Sunday?
As of the typing of this post Monday has blown through and it sounded like a few guys got out on Long Pond for a session.
Throughout the season leave a report or add to an existing one by naming the location and date.
