You may have caught the Democrat and Chronicle article a couple Sundays ago about ice sailing. It was a cool little article. Anyhow, the Irondequoit Bay Ice Sailing Association maintains an "ice hotline" for ice conditions within an hour or so of Rochester...and beyond I guess..if you are willing to travel. I have been checking the message every couple days and it has been updated several times. the most recent update was about the Canandaigua Yacht Club, and was made today (Wednesday). The report was an on site one and stated that about 3 inch thick good new ice existed at the yacht club in addition to the ice all the way to Kershaw. A look at Weatherbug confirms the ice to Kershaw. The ice boat guys are thinking of making a go of it in the coming days and certainly the weekend if the snow holds off and wind arrives. I might do the same with my freeskate in between swim lessons and hangin at home with the fam. Anybody interested? Windydoug

Just noticed some ice boats on Canandaigua. From right around noon to at least threeish if you view instacam and click on "all" for an image display. I'm waiting to here an updated ice report. Winds look light however. WD
