Anyone headed out. Looks like we are going to get some good wind from Earl. Hamburg is shaping up to be killer.

Well, today I got skunked at Hamburg. Long story. And my quiver consists of an 8 and two 14's. So I am pretty much screwed tomorrow because its perfect 10 to 12m wind for me! David, are we trekking to Hamburg tomorrow? Text me in the am!

Kel,
How could anyone get Skunked at Hamburg it stayed in the 40"s for most of the day. Miller & I sailed 3.8m sails for 3.8 hours Scorza rigged the same size but had a scary crash in the washing machine early on so he cut his session short. King, Windkid & Gary where there all with different amounts of effort on & in the water. Saw only 2 Buffalo people whom had the same water struggles.
Windkid said it best on the message line with his comment of "Experts Only" I'd like to refer it more like a Double Diamond run. Miller stated that the conditions were just short of survival sailing. Good thing everyone made it back to the shore and home unscathed.
Joe Walsh used his 8.0m kite for an interesting down wind run to Hamburg from 18 Mile Point, Joe said he was going to be at the East end of Ontario for Sunday and that most of his Syracuse kite buddy's were at Oneida on Saturday.
Strange set-up to say the least as the low traveled mostly North than East thus keeping Hamburg going and not Lake Ontario unless someone was out East. Give us an update.
H2O Rick

;DRick, I will have to congratulate both you and Dick Miller for your ability to stay out in the thermonuclear conditions yesterday. I was a bit amazed that I had such a difficult time on my 3.3 (over powered!) I guess it was one of those days when my mental attitude was not dailed in.......Again, I commend both you and Dick for your sailing agility in such radical conditions! Jim

Jim,
Agility is a big word for you to use, did you misspell "Ability
My agility/ability on the big day in Erie is by no mistake, I practice almost daily "Tarp Surfing" in preparation for days just like Saturday.
Miller on the other hand needs to take the crown, the guy is 64 years young on a board made in the 80's
I heard there where also a bunch of old names at Long Pond Saturday anyone wish to write about it?
H2O Rick

I can do that Rick, Saturday at Long Pond was a "pay the price for not sailing much this year" day. I zapped my body in the gusty conditions until the better wind arrived. The crew was out in force, and it seemed like the Long Pond I had only heard about in stories. Cars parked eveywhere (thanks Steve.......his yard may have a new owner soon, hope they will be good to us), sails, kites, people watching the action....you could feel like a super star as long as you could sail like one. I personally thought Mark Rosenzweig was stellar. He laughed that it was due to the kiddy pool, but he was dialed in. Joe was sailing like Joe does...more than anybody around here (including his Gorge time) and showing it. Scott Rowe and Teddy appeared to be rehashing some old race course battles (I'm only assuming) as they were blazing and going jibe for jibe. Keith arrived to rip it up for a "good" hour (which is defined as an hour and a half...or more) on his 5.8. A younger guy (thank God, no offense!)named Steve was looking pretty good as well and getting some nice runs while working on dialing his jibe. Mark Robertson got out his small stuff for Long Pond and worked off the rust. His small stuff now includes a 2008 Windance demo Ezzy 4.2. He commented that he was slowly figuring it out.......prodded further, he said he was figuring out that he didn't like his Naish Nalu much anymore after sailing the newer Ezzy! Side note, Art or I could have sailed that very sail when we rented form Windance in 2008. Anybody that called the windline Saturday heard a message from Long ISLAND Rich looking for the spot to be. I and a few others (Rick?) dialed him up and he showed with some nice skill as he was displaying some awesomely quick tacks, and other various freestyle tricks, and was working on his Vulcan on his runs back to the road. It was cool to watch. Gary arrived from Hamburg and looked to be getting some H2O time when I was leaving. Sai sizes ranged from low four's to owerpowered 5.8. I can't neglect to mention the two kites that beat everybody out on the water. Carpenter Don and Long Pond Steve were out on Smaller kites, and Don was so far up the pond you could barely see him! Steve seems to be getting kiting dialed in and was ripping back and forth after Mark R. launch assistance. It was cool to see the kites out there. I won't lie though, it was a bit hectic on the confined area of the pond with kites and windsurfer everywhere. Pics of Kinger at Hamburg care of One foot windkid willy are on the photo page of the website. Sample below. Anybody want to comment on Sunday at Hamburg? I had planned to make it, but plans changed. LP on Saturday: Mark Robertson 2 years since sailing, Me ( Keith) sailed 1x this year and none last year. LP was about as much as I could handle.
This Wednesday looks good, although I may have to borrow some tiny stuff as they are calling for 30+. My new ride can handle only 1 board and a few sails. I tried to make it to Hamburg today (tues) but the forecast and my plans just didn't come together.
