Hey Rochester Windsports Forum :: General Discussion :: General Windsports Discussion :: I would love to get started in kite surfing. Hey Dannielle,
I'm a windsurfer but Kite boarding is a great sport. There's a lot of local talent that should be able to help you. The first step is getting a training kite to learn the basics of kite control. One real advantage to kite boarding is that you can continue to learn during the winter buy kiting on the snow or ice. I wish you all the luck in the world.

Danielle, not sure how serious you are about learning but heading to a destination like the outer banks in NC or south padre island TX for a week of learning will give you the opportunity to be riding in a week. Learn here and it literally could take you a year or more to be out there. The wind here is not great and the spots to learn to kite are almost as bad...lol Those two spots in particular are shallow, warm water, and smooth wind, especially SPI. Get a trainer kite and learn to fly it with your eyes shut before you take a lesson, you will progress much faster.

David, You have room in your car when you head down 10/9?

I don't think I'm going to be there the whole week. I am going to try to head down early but I am most likely going to have to be back the Friday of the week we are there for class. Not sure if I'll have room but will let you know. I might be going w Jason because I know he is not going to be able to stay the whole week either.
