I talked to the crew at Bay Creek today about their SUPs. They rent them by the hr and have a few for sale/demo. I'm going in the AM to try them out. They have 3 available.
I started to look for an old windsurf board to use as a SUP. Being unemployed means I have no $$ but I hear that a 11' ~200 ltr board will work. Any thoughts on this from the windsurfer's out there.

If you've got time and woodworking skills, check out the how-to video at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MbqJ_Ja2wPALooks like lots of work, but it's always great to ride something that you created.

They had a ton of kids there yesterday so you may have seen them. Also for safety reasons they want people to kneel at the dock coming in and going out. It's still new to them and their working out the details.
I did have a blast and was out for 1 1/2 hrs and could have stayed out more except for the heat.

Hey SUP curious guys (I am one of you) I met up with tk ("new to windsurfing" post) and she may eventually have some long boards that she is willing to part with. I don't want to put words in her mouth though. She has some older long boards that look to be in pretty good shape. I'm not sure of her plan though and don't want to speak for her as she gets back into windsurfing after a long break. WD

Rick, My Kokatat is a large like Lynn's. I agree their sizing charts are a bit strange but I looked at how Lynn's fit and felt ok with the large. The real trick is getting the darn thing off. Takes a few sessions to get used to. Also had to trim the collar rubber as it was way to tight.

I've been getting loads of SUP time every week since getting my board in April. It feels terrific just to be getting on the water, and then there's the balance thing and lots of new skills to work on paddling. It does replace the Windsurfing but I feel less crazed and am cedrtainly enjoying the workouts and the cruising, the new balance and the developing skills.
Ken, at BayCreek, tells me they're having a free clinic on Saturday 7/17. I don't know what time but I'd sure suggest it if you haven't SUPed before. New stuff to learn.
Come on out and play!

We might see that if we the same wind conditions Not really, but SUP's can be a great back up to non-wind days. That and I think someone missed a "not" in the comment...

Oh golly Rick, it will be a while before I put a shadow box on my gear. I'm not doing anything too crazy yet. Higher and higher jumps, duck jibes, fast tacks, lay down jibes, clew first water starts (thinking about jump jibes), OMFG!!! OVER POWERED SAILING SKILLS, and forward loop homework. My friends say that looping is way easier than jibing ...
I actually just got back from a quick vacation back in NY. God it is so warm there. Berkeley hasn't been going above 70F.
Does anyone know how to contact Joe? I was supposed to call him and tell him I couldn't make it up to the Gorge. I don't have much vacation time saved yet and work was really busy at the begining of the month. And why should I leave wind to find wind??? Tell Joe to come down here after he cleans up at the Gorge.
It has been almost two weeks since I have sailed! And I'm going a little crazy because of it. The last day I sailed was the 4th of July at the Berkeley Marina. I started out on 5.0 103L (the 103L feels huge now). Then down to 5.0 and 86L until I couldn't hang on. I finished up with some 4.4 and 86L. I sailed from 11-12pm to somewhere between 5-6pm. It was exhausting. I'm so looking forward to this weekend. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a little windy windy when I get home from work tonight too ;D ;D ;D.
