I'm hoping to get there around noon or one. Bringing Bugers & Beer too! Ed's coming plus a couple guys that don't use the forum. One of them is bringing kan-jam so even if the weather doesn't cooperate we'll still have some fun!

I'm headed out in about an hr. Looks like a nasty thunderstorm might blow through but that might touch it off before hand. D

I was at the East launch but too little wind for my 12m. It was OK for a few then it would turn off. Lets hope for Sunday.

I was on a 15 for about 20 min total. Not the best of days but it was beautiful. At least the wind was smooth...lol I'm going to head up to Durand in a bit here and see if I can catch the 13mph wnw.

Thanks David! Actually WINDSURFING was fantastic out at Chimney Bluffs. After finishing up yard work about noon, I decided to drive out to East Bay Rd. to see if I could catch a ride or two or worse case end up hiking around the park. I arrived to what seemed like 8.0 conditions, rigged and just couldn't quite get on plane. So I went for the trusty 9.5 which I haven't sailed in at least a year. The winds picked up and I sailed overpowered ALL AFTERNOON!!!!!!!!! Not a kite in sight. By the end of my session I'll bet 7.0 would have worked. Glorious beautiful CLEAN blue waters and wonderful rolling swell. I know the real men windsurfer's would never get near an 8.0 let alone a 9.5 but I had a blast while everyone else sat at home. Sorry!

Glad someone got out on a windsurfer, at one point there where 6 kites in the air at Durand and no windsurfers in sight, I was a little worried!
I met up with Chris A (don't think he uses the forum) quite a ways East of the rest of the guys. He said a lifeguard told him windsports were only allowed from parking lot C & thats why he set up there. It was west of the guy with the pitbull drinking from a paperbag and yet still east of the ones smoking funny little cigarettes. I brought my wife & kid but packed up when my friends left b/c I was literally afraid to leave them on the beach alone. I will be looking for a new spot to launch next time they come!
I did get out for a while though and had a blast. I'll be in the market for a light wind board soon, I had plenty of time to think about it as I did the walk of shame from Seabreeze back to Durand. I was slightly underpowered with my 15m Waroo and 142 Sparks board. The wind got weaker and weaker as I drifted E...the guys further West definitely had the better spot. Beautiful day with great weather though, sure beat the Thunderstorm on Saturday that had us ducking for cover from the rain that felt like needles!

Awesome. I used to have a 9.5 and a formula board that I would use on the ultra light wind days; hard to get up and going but once the apparent wind hit it is a sweet feeling. East Bay is great but obviously not the most kiter friendly places due to the tight launch, but you can bet your A** that when its too west for Durand that I'll be up there. I'd love to get a photo session there from the top of the bluffs. Last time I was there everyone was packing up as I hiked p there but the photo ops are killer. Video from about midway up the bluffs would be like a helicopter shot so I'll throw my camera in the car for next time I go up. This kind of situation is exactly why adding a big kite 15-18m to your quiver makes sense. Would pay for itself in gas money alone...lol
