Wind is ramping up outside my house as we speak. Hamburg is already nearing my limit. Long Pond looks good in the forecast for windsurfers, but I and Windkid Bill are curious about the Seneca suggestion. Where to launch in a SW- windsurfing? Chamber? much of a wind shadow? work upwind from the park? WD

Forget your mother. Tomorrow looks like it is going to be pretty good (much smoother wind) and will hopefully come around to the N a bit more. I was thinking a bit of E bay road or durand if its a tad more NW than WNW. Anyone going out or will I be the only motherless person??

Took my trainer out and then had to give up after what seemed like some 35 gusts at the Seneca park. As of 9:45 no one out on the lake.
I can see it from my apartment. I will probably be installing an anemometer and webcam out the window soon. Any donations gladly accepted.

Really!? Researcher. You are endearing yourself to the wind-folks quite well with that anemometer and webcam offer. Where exactly is your location?

I over look the long pier and can see the park on the other side. 35-40mph+ gales just hit at exactly 2:48pm. straight west back down to 25 at 3:17. My wife has a cam and I can stream over the web. But I could use some advice on how to get the anemometer data to stream on the web in real time. Im not a web designer. This is about the resolution I can get with a 7mp camera (not a webcam): picasaweb.google.com/109093845840307532358/SenecaLakeConditions#not sure if the resolution from a web cam is good enough but if you zoom in on the camera pic you can see the flag and some whitecaps

David,
I'm back from Hatteras and will try heading out to Webster early afternoon. Perhaps also the Webster side of the Bay outlet.

Great, I am glad I am not the only one who feels that the wind is more important than my mother. I just woke up from my after work nap and I'm going to head out. I'm going to head to Montana, if its not goof I may head up to Webster but not sure if I have the energy to haul my windsurfing gear and kiting nuts up there. Hope Hatteras was good, I bet there was not snow at least.
