Yes for all you fair weather warm November days windsurfer and kiters I hope you all had fun at Seneca today while I tried to stay balanced in tree tops during the same gusts you guys were likely jibing down the clean faces of Seneca waves.
Then I went home afterward to put in a few husband points at the home ranch raking leaves as AGAIN the gusts took my pile every way but to the curb where I wanted them.
Lets hear how the guys made out.
Actually I had more wind than I needed last week with two back to back 3.8m days.

why is it that right when i leave you guys get so much wind?!? Seriously the day I left it was ridiculous on Lake Erie and everytime I check back in I see nothing but sweet posts! Ask me how many times I've been out since I've been here? Zero But my gear is in storage and I'm gonna get it back in two weeks when I finally move into my new apartment in Berkeley. boo yahh. ;D ;D ;D Well, at least I've been watching people play. Today I went and saw guys surf Mavericks 35ft-eardrum-popping waves. Crazy. Crazy. Crazy. - mikeyZ

well I stopped by Canandaigua first and a couple guys were on 7.5's, I was disappointed I only brought two vintage 90's sails with me today, the largest was a 6.0, so I decided to drive on to Seneca even though I would eat up more precious daylight. As I came down the hill towards Seneca I saw one jelly-fish dude ripping big water ski-like turns next to the pier and others floating around the lake as well. I pulled into the parking lot and heard "you should'da been here an hour ago", and "I wouldn't even bother it's too *&%#%$* up and down because of the thermals and the compression " and other stuff I didn't want to hear, of course I'm also thinking maybe this means I won't have to get into that ice cold water after all. One guy blew a hole in his 5.5, so I'm thinking hey it can't be that bad and "I" have a 6.0! ;D I figured if I drove to the east side I'd chew up more daylight and stay warm. Arriving at the beach launch more jelly-fish were basking in the late sun and a couple were out floating around the lake. They all were using smaller kites than what I observed on Canandaigua. One guy suggested that because of the shallow area west of the launch I might want to put-in at the launch near the marina, which was good advice. I drove over there and found I was the only one and worried about zipping up my drysuit which apparently has suffered shrinkage since I last squeezed into it, nothing like the shrinkage I experienced once I hit the water I might add . "At least my 6.0 has a chance", I thought. I enlisted some African dude reading a book and listening to music in his car, "You going a sailing man?" "Yea it's gonna be cold". I put in and it was deceptively strong and in a few minutes my arms were getting longer and I was slapping wave tops with my butt. You know....friendly slaps, like when you and the little woman get together and well.....never mind . I was fully powered on my ole 6.0 and loving it. It just kept getting stronger and I thought, "yea there's gonna be a beer in this before the night is over" . Good times man!

Nice, skymongrel. Glad you found the website.
I'd never heard the jellyfish nickname for the kiters. I hadn't heard of windsurfers being called pole riders until this summer either. Both pretty creative. Anyhow, my latea rrival killed me as well. After hearing Kinger describe how he'd almost died out there I rigged my 4.8 in fear. I hit the water and was luck to make it back to the boat launch. Rigged a 5.8 and bigger board, and barely made it back to the chamber building. Tried a bagged out 5.8 and my floatiest board and was luck to make it back to the launch. I olny planed for 100 yards the whole time. Dejected I began derigging. My day turned around though when my wife and son (3 1/2 years old) arrived in the parking lot all the way from Rochester just to watch daddy windsurf. We had a blast running around with broken willow branches and the whole day seemed a lot better. I'm hoping for a couple hours of daylight at Long Pond today after work. This could be it until the ice sailing/kiting starts. WD

thats "pole sailors" and the kiters are also known "tea baggers". Please don't look that up on urbandictionary.com
