Yeah right, I know. If it isn't broken don't fix it. But yesterday Joe and Bill both kind of went on adventures looking for sailable beaches and wind. Joe headed west to Hamlin Beach and/or Grass Beach on the Parkway. Bill headed East to Fairhaven State Park. Other infrequently visited locations include Sampson State Park on Seneca for North winds
Joe reported that the beaches (3-4 of them) were nice and you could rig on grass right on the beach. Sandy bottom etc... it's a drive, but instead of having to "fear factor" yourself through the sludge and deal with the Pier at Webster maybe it would work on a West day. Joe was also stoked about re-discovering a place called Grass Beach at a bend in the road on the Parkway.
Bill sent photo's of Fairhaven that i will try to get up on the photo site. Besides the drive (1:30 from Honeoye Falls, 1 hour form Fairport) Bill seemed pretty psyched about what he found. Great beach good protection close to shore due to an upwind pier. The way the beach is situated it looks like it might be a decent wave spot for west wind and NW wind sailing (based on looking at Google Earth). Grassy rigging, nice sand beach and has the potential to get the wind on the eastern half of Lake Ontario when it misses us. Faorhaven has a website and some additional photo's are available if you view google earth. Any other spots out there?

Chimney Bluffs, Good in WSW, west, NW. Too SW it shuts down, rock beach , nice waves. I hear they are charging for access now. Great spot for most sailors
Rudy's: Oswego, best wave spot around for WSW to west winds Rock beach, demanding.
Both of these launches are alternatives the Webster.

Doug, I'm not able to get into the photos, is it me? I trust all the sailors with BIG smiles on their faces will be giving me a large thank you for leaving town this weekend so the wind could blow. And since I missed the triable meeting will I get kicked off the water for the fall? And will Jonesy pick up my air fare to NC since he is paying for all our college kids fuel today? H2O Rick PS I don't even call myself a windsurfer anymore.

Well guys, how was it today? It looked great on the net. I'm down here in Raleigh NC sitting through the remnants of Humberto somewhere in the tune of 3 inches of rain. 9:30 at night and still no luggage.
NO H2O Rick
