Hey Flashpipe,
Tomorrow's way too good a forecast to ignore, but it is problematic.
Right now there is too much west in the forecast for Durand or Seneca to really work. As it stands, Hamburg or Webster, perhaps EBAY would be my call. Maybe Canandaigua early. I'd be happy to see the wind shift North enough for Durand. Just keep your eyes peeled.

Hey Flash,
Problematic is correct. However most of our problem is too much information, with all the different forecasts and websites to gather our data from. As stated by the Kid will it turn NW enough to have Durand work? I think it will, however it will likely be a time frame so close to dark it won't matter also if it is gusty one may get the feeling that Durand has turned NW but it is more likely just the wind shift of the gust. One map from The Weather Channel shows the Low way off towards Maine in the afternoon and early evening to me that spells NW
It's anyone's guess!
Wind Kid
Keep our eyes PEELED? Pun intended with the wind speed forecast.
H2O Rick
PS I will try my luck at Webster around 3:15 and then make adjustments from there. I also spoke to a local photographer who will stop at Webster for some action shots.

I agree...most of them are saying WSW, 20ish now...and turning slightly from north this evening... localkitespots.com/kitesurfing/New%20YorkWill probably head out around 1...would Seneca be good today?? Haven't been there yet and am looking to kite there...

What's Webster like for launching kites?? And, if it's good, where's the launch? Looks like it might be tough with a strong W for someone who can't go upwind yet... Looks like there's still too much W for Seneca/Durand, but too much wind to ignore...maybe a bit too much wind for a newbie, but, with the 9m, at least I shouldn't be underpowered.

Hey Brian, I sent you a PM about boards a few months back, check your messages in the upper right.
As for Webster I've heard its not easy to launch a kite there. I know its all rocks & some shale. I think Kel & Lynn have done it but said its difficult. Lynn also said Seneca is possible in a W wind. Not ideal but possible. I watched two guys Launch in a field and climb down the wall at the N end...that way you'd be 1/2 way across the lake, hopefully far enough to find wind but not so far where you'd be in trouble if you didn't stay upwind. You can walk across the whole N end just further than the length of your lines (don't ask me how I know that)
I've been riding at Charlotte lately, the lifeguards left after labor day and you have the whole beach to yourself. Park behind Abbots & start W of the Beach House. I'm short staffed today & can't get out of work. Plus I don't think I have the experience or the kite for today's wind. Isn't it gusting to 40mph?
Have fun, stay safe!
