Wish I had checked this before now. I gave Durand a shot during the afternoon, and it was almost there for most of the time. Not quite enough to get me going on my 7.5 and 116L. A big Kite may have worked. Considering Hamlin Beach or other spot near there for Friday.......if conditions warrant it. WD

Big kites were the call yesterday. Jason and Lynn rode from about 2 - 5:30. I was out for about an hour on a 10.5 only because I broke a pully on my 14. Looks like several days with potential ahead of us.

Hey Dougie, thanks for the call. I was camping up on Stillwater Reservoir. We got the rain and a little wind up there but nothing major. I'm headed to NYC tomorrow and probably won't be back before monday. It will probably blow 25 from now until them at Durand.

I got out on my 15 from 7-8. I got permission from a guy I know on the Webster side of the outlet to launch from the beach next to the pier. Not sure if that'll happen again but its way closer to my house. A guy a few doors down was putting away a Windsurfer so who knows!
I kept the kite dry though and finished where I started so I'm super excited for next time. Doug I thought Hamlin was off limits...would be nice with the East wind they're calling for. Also why does my fancy new browser tell me the website wants to add "ietag.dll?"

Brent,
So what house did you launch from? I finished my session about 6:30 I used my formula and a 8.0 sail from about 4:00. Funny that I thought the wind was light so I rigged the sail different than I had ever done before and it worked well enough to keep me going even in the 18mph and under wind. I pulled into Montana when Lynn & Jason quit just to say hello.
I launch at the second house from the outlet the woman lives alone I've know her through our church for years. What was your deal?
H20 Rick.

Rick was that you rolling up your sail? It would have been around 6:30. I was trying to get to you from the pier but you disappeared before I could. I was hesitant to talk to you anyway b/c I've seen some people down there get pretty upset with people that don't live there. Mostly kids...but one time this guy had his boat anchored & let his dog go to shore & poo, one of the homeowners came flyin out all fists & f-bombs! I was pointing and laughing from my boat, that didn't help.
I launch my boat at the Marina across the street at least twice a week so Al (who works at the Marina) was nice enough to let me launch my kite from his property. His house is the new one about 5 houses in. Its not done yet so he doesn't live there. He said the Flywheel on the beach marks his property line. I kept waiting for someone to come out and ask me who I was but no one did. I figure because it was a week night & nobody was really around. Thats so much closer than Montana for me, I'm right up Bay Rd. I'll say hi if I catch you there again!
