I'm shooting to get out at 2 and head straight to the state park on the NE end of Seneca today. I brought my stuff so I'm leaving from Brighton. I'm hoping for 10-15mph right out of the South.
I have a white F150 & my cell is 585-733-2440 if anyone else can make it! I youtube'd a bunch of self launch techniques last night just in case.

Oh man, I'm wasting my time aren't I....looks like the winds dying. Ok so stay at work or sit on the beach waiting for wind? Or float around staring at a kite that's a mph from falling out of the sky?! Wouldn't be the first time I was underpowered!

Looks like it would have been good, anywhere from 8am to 2pm. I was driving all over the country today. Missed it!

Turned out great! Wind died a few times but picked up more & more as the evening went on. I was able to stay upwind and started a few small jumps! You are going to have to teach me how to flag a kite & roll it up without making a mess of the lines though. Then I want to learn 20ft Jumps (mine were more like 2ft).
I met Chris A & Chris V as well. Turned out to be a great day, can't wait for next time!

Congrats on staying up wind! Now that you have it, when you have enough wind/power - its going to work every time!
No sure way to keep the lines clean when you flag the kite. By definition, you have to wind up your flag line a full length of the kite's wing to wing length before you wind the other lines, which will most likely get tangled in the process. Be sure that your legs or arms dont get into the inevitable tangle!!! If you tension any other line, the kite could power up and cut through your skin! I am sure you know that.
The better you get, the less you will get into the situation where you need to flag the kite out. I think it has been 3 years since I have had to flag it out. I save that for total emergencies only.
Again, congrats! Its a big step when you stay up wind and start jumping!!
