So a few people were down at Canandaigua yesterday. The crowd included myself, jimmy, joe H, new guy Tim, and another new guy. It was classic canandaigua and I showed up right as the wind let up. I stood around for a while, rigged my 8.5, and then it got good and stayed good for a little over 2 hours. It was kind of funny, I decided to try and sail my 8.5 on my 103L board. It was kind of an interesting combo. Schlogging was kind of hard, you had to have the board up on plane if you didn't want to get blown down wind. But once it was on plane you could sail up wind just fine. I'm not sure how much better it was than 7.0, it didn't seem to have much more power. I think it just kept me on plane in the lulls, and I think I was definitely taking the gusts better on the small board than I would have on the big board. Anyways that 103 Synchro has been good to me. Now I've sailed everything from 8.5 to 4.7 on that one board.
Joe Herbert is back. Right before I was going to get on the water I noticed he arrived. I hadn't seen him in well over a month and he surely had some Gorge stories for me, but that didn't stop him from being classic Joe Herbert. There were no salutations, no smile, no handshake, just a "Z what are you doing standing around for! Get on the water! You spend all this time standing around you could be sailing on Seneca!" It gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. Joe spoke the truth and I got my a$$ out on the water. Welcome home Joe!
It is sort of blowing at Durand. I might have to just do this work on the weekend.
Bill how was Seneca??
