Hey ya'll, Ken J, Bill, Art, Jim, Kenny, and myself made it out to Canandaigua for some sailin' on thursday. It was classic up and down Canny mostly SE. I had some good runs and I'm getting more and more comfortable without my life jacket in the deeper water. 6.0 was probably the average sail size. At one point I was blastin along almost overpowered when Ken caught up with his 8.0! Kenny recently purchased Bill's old Carve 123 (a great deal btw) and was getting the hang of it. He almost got a water start on his 4.9, if the sail had been a little bigger he would have gotten it. On top of this he did great considering it was definitely one of the more gusty days up at Da' Club. Hopefully we'll get some more wind real soon!

What was the wind like? I do not sail, only kite. Just wondering, a 6.0 is for what wind speed.
Can you tell I'm a noob here on this forum?

The rule of thumb for sails sizes to kites is more or less 2 to 1. If everyone is sailing 6.o the kites will usually range from 11-12 meters, depending on the kite and the kiter. Canandaigua is a busy place this time of year and I've never seen anyone kite there untill the beach closes, the bouys would make it a real challenge.
