Wind was blowing and the Webster Park "poo goo" was nowhere to be found. If you were there when Kinger arrived then you scored the best conditions of the day (biggest wind). Windsurfing were Kinger, Windkid, "Lake Ontario Buoy" Ken, Windydoug, and always powered Art. The wind was up and down, and sailed on anything from a 4.7 to a 6.5. I was able to fully enjoy the wind and water on a 5.8 and 95L board. Screwed up a lot of jibes, but was comfortable and able to ride some swell on the way in and do some chop hopping on the way out. The launch wasn't too bad and the sun and scenery were great. I took a couple pics from the bluffs (a two minute hike up) but need an SLR with a good lens. The conditions in the pics don't due justice to the good sailing. Dougie I think you meant 7/13 instead of 7/14. Yesterday (7/14) Bill (windkid) and Art were at Durand with me. Unfortunately I showed up a little late. I made it out on my 7.0 and 103L for a few blasts out and back. I really love that set up. The water is so smooth in 7.0 conditions and when you are on a 103L board it makes it even smoother.
Anyways, the wind pretty much died off around 6 with a puff or two coming in here and there. I took my 8.5 on one of those westerly puffs. I planed out a ways and soon realized I was on that cusp of planing non-planing. I debated with myself about jibing. I decided to go just a few hundred yards more before jibing. Then I saw that it was just dead on the outside. I missed my jibe, couldn't water start in the light wind, then went for the uphaul line. Just as I got on my board a yacht came out of nowhere and flew past me about 50 yards away (right where I almost initiated my jibe, but thankfully didn't). I felt bit down about it. I wondered if the boater saw me and I thought about all the people that go boating drunk. Ugg. Not cool. Anyways, I think you really have to be careful with the boat traffic on light wind days on Ontario.
