Wind Wishers, I just received the below from an Ithaca area Sailor. It appears they are interested in hosting a swap meet. Click on the link to fill out the survey PLEASE. I think it is a good effort on their part, and deserves a response from all of us Rochester area folks........ Pass it along to everybody that you know that has some used gear sitting around. A bunch of new boards have popped up recently and IMHO they replaced decent boards. Hi, I've sailed with a few of you Rochester boardheads when you go to Geneva every once in a while and thought you might be interested in a swap meet in Ithaca in July. We're doing a survey down here and that's what it looks like. If you'd like to be part of it let me know and I'll send you the date and location, and in the mean time you can help by showing interest (or not) at this survey:SURVEY: spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?formkey=cndhdnJPN2w0OXdhNlVOcWhxekQzcWc6MAWho knows, it could be a good place to get rid of some unused gear. Think 20-30. - Steve

Update......
As of this morning 14 or so people had replied to "Ithaca Steve's" e mail. Not sure how many people from this area though.
He has set a tentative date of the 11th of July, from 10-2 at either Geneva or Lodi. The location is flexible at this point to accomodate the folks from our neck of the woods.
The swap meet/event is evolving as a sail or kite/BBQ/ swap meet. Wind permitting we get on the water. The swap would include any and all outdoor rec. equipment. I am taking that to mean kite, windsurf, bike, climbing, skatesailing, snow kiting, etc.....whatever shows up. BBQ, byob and meat, perhaps watch some video from the back of a van. I have an e mail out trying to to guage interest of the folks from Syracuse to come our way as well. Special musical guest Big Head Todd and the Monsters....okay I made that up.
This could be a pretty good thing for the health of windsurfing and kiting in Western and Central NY, and worth the effort. I think of it as doing what this discussion forum has done, but actually face to face. By that time in July the wind will have shut off and we will be jonesing to see one another. I realize Quantum Leap used to barn sales, and interest died off so the sales stopped. I remember the sale in its prime of the early 90's....the Pittsford Farms Dairy was overflowing with stoke, video's, donuts and cider, and gear (some good and some not so good). I am not aware how many people were coming from Ithaca and beyond back then. A large group of windsport enthusiasts (or a small one with all its stuff together) is a lot more attractive to new people than a rag tag group. If you haven't replied to the survey please do so, or e mail me at rochesterwindsports@yahoo.com We/you are a good bunch of people. WD

The date is set for the Swap Meet. It will be held on Sunday July 12 at the State Park in Geneva. Starting at 10 a.m. Bring any and all windsurfing, Kite, and outdoorsy gear. Official announcement from Ithaca Steve at the link below. It will be in Geneva to allow Rochester and perhaps Syracuse area folks to participate more easily. Show some love by bringing any usable used gear and some windsurfing stoke. If it is blowing somewhere, leave at 10:05 from the park. Link: docs.google.com/Presentation?id=dfq29cpw_36f753j9q7WD

SWAP MEET RESCHEDULED. HI! Well, Saturday is looking to be a good day for Seneca and there was a logical request to move it up. So, at the risk of disappointing folks who could only make it on Sunday we're moving it up as Seneca could very well have a good draw on Saturday anyway. Also, we're now up to 17 responses. Not bad! The flyer is now updated with the responses from when there were 15 but I'll update is again later. Note: The park might not charge until 10 am. Meaning, 5 minutes early might save you 7 bucks. It might turn out to be more sail than swap, but that's ok! Bring wind. docs.google.com/Presentation?id=dfq29cpw_36f753j9q7Steve Lutter PS: Please share!
