Hey guys, it looks like we might get wind tomorrow. Iwindsurf says 13mph here in roch and 16mph. I am either going to head to long pond or to hamburg. I have never been to Hamburg before and I don't know if there is anything I should watch out for. Does anyone think they are headed that way? Call me (tlf. 315-244-8373) or the windline if you are. Can I expect to find other surfers there?

The pier charlotte said 18kts NW. I drove down and there was nothing, so I drove up to Webster. Guys, Webster has the dirtiest water I have ever seen. I didn’t know this country had water that dirty. There were tiny little waves that were lapping up along the shore. The waves were BLACK. Like an oil spill in Alaska. BLACK. And it smelt terrible. Anyways I don’t care what anyone says, Long Pond is not that bad. Oh and yea there was no wind at Webster either.
So I went home kind of upset about there not being any wind. I tried doing schoolwork and got distracted doing things kids these days do (talking on AIM to other distracted kids). Then I broke down and drove to Hamburg not knowing where it was or what I would find when I got there. I somehow arrived at 4pm to a wonderful site - four other windsurfers on the water, and about 8 kiters. One of the guys informed me he was on a 5.7 104L. I rigged up my 6.0 103L Synchro. It was heaven. Firstly, because I haven’t sailed the Synchro on a large body of water. Secondly, Hamburg ROCKS THE HIZZOUSSE YA’LLL. I was pretty proud of myself. I tried taking the Synchro on Lake Ontario a few weeks ago and had ZERO success. Hamburg was wonderful. Riding over waves, shooting down the faces. I tried jibing a few times and stayed dry on four or five of them. One was pretty good, I came off plane but it was done with ease no wobbles or anything. After about 2hours maybe the wind died and it was time to go home.
When I got back to the car my contact lens ripped and was therefore of no use. I took out the lens and packed up my gear. I have fairly bad vision (-6.0 diopters) and I didn’t have a back up contact lens. I considered this somewhat of an emergency so I called 911 and there was nothing they could do for me, the lady literally wished me “good luck”. I somehow drove home in the dark with one eye shut.

Good for you Z man! You must have just missed Bill and I. We left arround 3:45 completly exhausted from the wonderfull sailing at Hamburg. That was by far the best conditions I have ever sailed there. Wonderfull chest high swell w/ minimal chop. Glad you were able to find the park and experience what real wind is like. Now you need to purchase the EZ Pass for faster times through the toll booths. At times the pass can save a ton of time driving through Buffalo. Congrat's!
