Anyone think Montana or Rick's 'ol stomping grounds would work in this wind?! I think its too south but I don't have time for Seneca or Hamburg. I might give it a shot around 6:30 tonight. NOOA says it will shift Northwest but about the same time it dies. Windfinder does not show a shift.
NOOA also said the lake temp is 47! Would the cold water suck the hot air towards it creating all this beautiful wind? That would explain the dying & shifting thing.
A friend in Sodus said NOOA is dislexic and meant to say 74...

That temp does sound a little goofy, but on a prolonged good blow away from Rochesterthe lake will upwell/turnover and get considerably colder closer to Rochester. All the warm stuff is pushed to the other side of the lake.
Hope it's not true, but if it is, it will worm soon....and it's not gonna be windy again for us starved souls!

The local weather stations were also reporting water temp of 47. They indicated that the lake had turned over forcing the cold water to the surface. So, although it sounds crazy, everyone seemed to be reporting the same thing.

Answer: No....the South wind & warm temps brought on a bunch of anchored boats so I couldn't even try. I'm guessing the land would mess the wind up too much anyway. I tried at Charlotte once with a little off shore and the kite would fall out of the sky one second & put me on my belly the next.
I know the lake flips a couple times a year but I was in it over the weekend and it was fine. Today NOOA's saying the lake's 46...last night the lake was calm & warm from the bay to Charlotte. May have to look into where that meter is located!
