My son discovered the golden oldie Star Wars movies last week and that is all that has been happening at our house, that being said......
Obie Wan KENoby used the force to get himself a perfect set up for ripping at Durand (6.5 and floaty board). Unlike the Millennium falcon, he had no issues with his hyper drive and got himself 2-3 miles off shore from the wind killing death star shadow in near the beach. After consider how to destroy the death star wind shadow with Yoda(Joe H.) we rigged up 6.6 and 5.8 and larger boards. We got some knowledge from Rogue leader 1 (Gus) who had some good times out cruising on a beautiful new 8.5 Ezzy.
I'm out of Star Wars references now....
Joe and I headed out soon to be followed by Windkid Bill on a 6.5, and of course the wind got fluky on us. Ontario Buoy (previously know as Obi Wan KENoby) was still way out and blasting with a big grin no doubt.
Joe, Doug, and Bill downwind to beach. I let off some downhaul and followed Bill back out and managed to stay in the wind for the next hour or so fully loving it, making some jibes with Ken and having a blast until it went too west and it was done.
Roll call of windsurfers was Gus (who rigged down and got some 6.2 water time too) Ken, Joe, Doug, Bill, Ted, Scott (skymongrel), and Gary.
Saw some kites dancing down at Montana, not sure about the action there though...
It's blowing now.....ah work.

I checked out the outlet but saw kites at Durand, so I headed there...by the time I got there the kites had headed to Montana b/c of the West wind. Thanks to Doug I headed there and had a great session! I think it was Lynn, Jason, Greg & Myself but there was enough wind to get West of Marge's & tack back a couple hundred yards off the pier so it wasn't too crowded (close though!). I was happy on my 11 waroo while the other guys had 12 or 13's of other brands. It was great to shake the rust off though I admit I did get dragged down the beach a little before that rust came off. I'm guessing the family of 15 on the pier got a good laugh! FYI I was a good safe distance away from them or anything else I could hurt (or could hurt me). There was a windsurfer whipping around in the mix too, I didn't get close enough but I'd bet it was Rick G.
There was enough wind to get to both sides of the pier and the highlight of my day was when I was riding on the West side of the pier watching Jason's kite on the East side; his kite went up and suddenly his silouette came into view over the top of the pier! He put one hand on the board (tail grab?) and gently floated back down behind the pier. It looked like some kind of motivational poster that should have been in an office somewhere!
We all stopped about the same time b/c the wind seemed to die and everyone had a smile plastered to their face. As we finished packing up Dr Miller (I think) came whipping by from what used to be my secret spot, proving that the wind had not died! He rode off as we walked off the beach.
I just checked NOAHH that said the winds are supposed to build tonight and turn N to NE so I'm planning on trying to head out for an hour around 6:30. Hope for the best!
