Thaw out update. I have not been down for a look at the I Bay ice, but when I got my second session of the season on 12/30 the ice was about 4 inches thick judging by the bubbles and the depth to the bottom. If anybody has an update on the condition and melting of the ice from shore, that would be much appreciated. A couple cold days at the beginning of this week and the ice should be absolutely perfect with spotty snow forecasted. Again, if anybody is interested in meeting up drop me an e mail. Mark (getting back into windsurfing, lives in Fairport) had talked about trying it out this winter, so get a hold of me if you are still interested. WD

I Bay update Sunday Jan 2nd The thaw hit the shoreline of ice beach pretty hard in and around the docks. The other strange occurrence is the broken up ice in the north east kingdom where the fishermen usually are. That area is going to be off limits for any kind of smooth ice or snow for a while. The same invite that Doug gave holds for me those who want to give sailing a shot get in touch with me. Just remember if a post is listed that the ice is good, get out there and join us cause a snowfall can put an end to the ice in a hurry. Ice Beach is located in Webster along Irondequoit Bay off Lake Rd. just East of Meyers Marina the bay comes right up to the road. The parking is by a set of 4 or 5 docks marked private property just stay off the docks and respect the property. (See attachment) H20 Rick Attachments:

I've got my windski set up. I'm whittling away at the freeskate board. In the meantime I just had 3 days in a row of landpaddling. There's a small crew of guys tearing up the road in Doug W's neighborhood. There's some extra boards and poles around if someone (hey Doug) wants to join us give me a call.

Quick update about the I Bay ice. Rick checked it yesterday around 3 p.m. and said a few holes remained. His feeling was that a couple of nights and we would be back in business. I'm going to head out Wednesday afternoon and sail if the ice is good. Should be there around 3:45. I have also been frequenting a regional ice fishing forum to get ice reports for various local bodies of water. Braddocks bay and Cranberry each have 5" of ice according to fishermen who were on the ice yesterday. Not sure if the auger holes have wrecked the ice much though. www.lakeontariounited.com/fishing/viewforum.php?f=8WD- fingers crossed for Wednesday and remainder of the week....
