I'm in seminars 7-28 and 7-29 in Buffalo so I'm bringing my 12 & 15 just in case. It looks less than stellar to say the least but might as well check it out while I'm there. Can someone give me an address or coordinates to the launch for kites in Hamburg?
I called wild Bill Meyer the wind wizard last week but he didn't return my call. I might call him again when I'm up there, he has some new ends I need for my trainer kite that broke in 40mph winds on the ice.

You want to go to Locksley Park. You can get a day pass there for 5 bucks or wing and risk a ticket for twenty. If there is any wind at all there will be a lot of kiters.
Take I-90 W then...
6. Take exit 56 for NY-179 toward Blasdell/Mile Strip Rd Partial toll road 0.6 mi 7. Turn right at Mile Strip Expy/NY-179 (signs for Blasdell) 1.3 mi 8. At the traffic circle, take the 3rd exit onto the Lake Shore Rd/NY-5 ramp 0.4 mi 9. Merge onto Lake Shore Rd/NY-5 0.6 mi 10. Slight right to stay on Lake Shore Rd/NY-5 1.8 mi
good luck

We sometimes go out to a little spot south of Wendt Beach Park. Nice beach area, but it's rocky in the water near the shore, so I wear a helmet. There's usually not many people here, so we've been going there to practice - to avoid getting in people's way, embarrassing ourselves or risking any potential "bystander issues." We've seen other, more experienced kiters out here as well. Basically, take 5 all the way down past Highland on the Lake, take a Right on Sturgeon Point Road, take a left on Lake Shore Road, follow it to the right as it bends around the end of the park, then take a right on Wendt Rd. and park at the little area at the end... maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=hamburg,+ny&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=25.623369,48.251953&ie=UTF8&ll=42.666547,-79.061654&spn=0.000724,0.001473&t=h&z=19&layer=c&cbll=42.666508,-79.061676&panoid=YKxx0D0m0sawneUfZOmKLQ&cbp=12,309.68,,0,9.26 You'll have to copy & paste the link...

Ok.. I checked out that mapquest by flashpipe and all I can say is that I've been to Hamburg, Deustchland and I found it to be a very inhospitable environment for both windsurfing and kite boarding. In fact I was arrested there and frankly they aren't much for hippies, nihilists and most of all nihilistic hippie misanthopic windsurfers!

If I read wikipedia right, you don't like people in general and don't believe values exist? What did you get arrested for?

Seriousily, I got arrested for being a vagrant and a suspected anarchist. The Stormtroopers took my passport and threw me on the streets. It was December 22. The rest is history....but it will cost you a beer.

Just a couple miles north of Locksley Park on Lakeshore Rd. is Woodlawn Beach State Park and they actually provide free permits for kiting/windsurfing. There is actually a fairly secluded beach for these activities just north of the park offices.
Has anybody launched from there?

No, but I've been there. The walk to the beach looked like a long one, but that wouldn't be a big deal for the kiters. The beach was nice.
Hey Duluoz, weren't we on the road together or am I confusing you with someone else?
