I have been wanting to try kiting there for sometime, and this weekend I got to give it a try.
Stayed with a friend near Krings Point just North of A-Bay. The wind was blowing about 18 SW. I didnt think I would be able to keep up wind since all I had was an 11m and the river current flows in the same direction. Not sure what the deal was, but I was just able to hold position. I was thrilled - pretty cool to sail out into the river and near the channel.
I was hoping for some freighters to go by and maybe get some pics - but didnt.
Anyhow - As fun as that was - I can imagine how fun it would be if the wind were NE. Maybe cold.. but it has to make a bit of a tread mill.
Anyhow else sail or kite up there?

I would love to learn more about the 1000's. Sounds like you needed a larger kite or a light wind board and maybe PWC support. Great score on getting it when you can. This past July I left my gear at home and as you know, the NY weather was sh#t but we had wind and I had no gear. Lessoned learned, NEVER leave your (KITE) gear behind. I know the pole riders have much more to bring and I hope no offense is taken. As always PM me or goto nwkite.com for local info on the Gorge stats. The Slingshot Blowout has been rescheduled to 8/2 since we have had a heat wave come through (107). I'm looking forward to riding with everyone. ED
