I'll be in the Rochester area the first week in July. In the past I have brought my Kite Gear but have yet to use it do to lack of wind that time of year. Any ideas when to kite or should I just leave my gear.
Also, do any one rent/demo a SUP? I think they would be fun on the Lake Ontario but I would also like to bring it to Cayuga Lake since that is where the family will be.
Thanks for the info

Ed,
When you come in July DO NOT BREAK the first rule: Never / ever leave something at home which can be used on the water.
I think there is a good chance that you can use your kite in the Rochester area during that time.

Ed, I'm with the water authority on this one (nice to see a post from him), bring it with you...especially easily packed kite gear! Have you checked out the sailing sites tab on rochesterwindpsorts.com? Also, are you familiar with the Quantum Leap windline? 234-2896. Its a publicly accessible mailbox. Listen to the message for how to access or leave a message. If it looks windy, odds are somebody has left a message about where they are sailing/kiting. No SUP availabe to my knowledge, but try Canandaigua Sailboarding.

Ed,
It is certainly worth bringing your gear - especially if you dont mind driving a little. Between Buffalo and Syracuse - there is usually some wind somewhere.
Hitting a good wave day at Ontario near Rochester is a little like winning the lottery. It takes a northly wind which is less frequent. Buffalo and East shore of Ontario are more likely.
Having said that, use the wind line listed above - and when the time is closer, we can swap cell numbers if you like and I will let you know where we are kiting.
